ist, würde man anderes vermuten, aber: Die Platte ist steht nicht
stellvertretend für die typische Klangästhetik, durch die Dilla zur
Bekanntheit kam. Seine Beats für The Pharcyde (»Runnin«, 1995),De La Soul (»Stakes Is High«, 1996) oder Common (»The Light«, 2000) zeichnet sich vor allem dadurch aus, dass sie
elegant und zielgenau waren. Wer das ursprüngliche Genie des Detroiter
Musikers kennenlernen will, dem sei vor allem das Album Fantastic, Vol. 2 seiner Gruppe Slum Village ans Herz gelegt.
