RETURN!!! After a 9 year hiatus from recording studio albums, Miles
Davis returned in 1981 with a bang. Continuing the abstract
improvisational funk pioneered by the Miles Davis live electric band,
Miles came back with a fresh cast. While there are plenty of new players
on this recording it captures the moody long-song format from the mid-
70s live electric band. The album features R&B legend Marcus Miller
on bass, Mike Stern on guitar, electric band alumni Al Foster on drums,
and many more. Produced and edited by long term Miles Davis collaborator
Teo Macero.

Charles Bradley wird am 5. April sein zweites Album Victim of Love
veröffentlichen. Der Nachfolger seines hochgelobten Debüts No Time for
No Time for Dreaming, veröffentlicht im Januar
Bradley mit Sharon Jones & Grace Potter in The Tonight Show with Jay
Leno auf, war in diversen Episoden von Last Call with Carson Daly zu
sehen und performte Anfang des Jahres in der BBC-Show Later … with Jools
Holland.
Nordamerika, Europe, Australien gespielt. Darunter so renommierte
Festivals wie Bonnaroo, das Newport Folk Festival, Austin City Limits,
Bumbershoot, Outside Lands, Montreux, Roskilde, Flow Festival, All
Year” geehrt. "Every brass blast and chicken scratch could have
come straight off a 1968 Stax Records release, but it's Bradley's
ragged, resilient powerhouse singing that makes this soul..." - Rolling
Stone "While there were plenty of great debut albums in 2011,
it's hard to top the one by this 63-year-old soul throwback. Turning a
lifetime of troubles into this triumph, Bradley shows that you don't
need to reinvent a genre to be at its forefront." - AOL Spinner "[No
Time For Dreaming] might be the best thing the label's ever released, a
howling, hooting affair fit for end times or just the end of the
night." - GQ "Bradley's success is a result of his music, which
overflows with the ingredient most crucial to soul music - soul... he
sounds battered and bruised but still standing. He aches but is never
angry. There's heartbreak but also hope. In a sea of acts tagged as
'throwback soul' or 'retro soul,' Bradley is neither - he's the real
thing." - Washington Post "This man's sound reminds us of the
best moonshine-soaked, sweat-drenched Mississippi juke joint we were
lucky enough to frequent. Don't miss it." - LA Weekly "Bradley
is a classic showman. He sells every syllable, dropping to his knees,
outstretching his arms, shaking his hips. And that voice, both pleading
and plaintive, anguished and extraordinary." - Los Angeles Times
Repressed! The Greatest High School Band Of All Time Plays Hard Soul, Funk And Jazz On This Double LP OverviewThe
word is out The Kashmere Stage Band was the greatest high school band -
ever. The bandleader at Kashmere High School, Conrad Johnson,
transformed a bunch of rough-hewn Houston high schoolers into a band
that could compete with any in the nation – professional, or otherwise.
Forget high school bands, we're talking about sixteen year old kids who
would give the JBs a run for their money! The Kashmere Stage Band
released a total of eight albums and three 45s on Johnson’s Kram label.
The band’s best tracks are collected on Texas Thunder Soul 1968-1974.
"Good love will never die" -- dieser Spruch trifft auf Mobb
Duo aus Queensbridge/New York mit dem Song "Drop A Gem On 'Em"
Morddrohungen.
Erst mal
müssen mit "Pray For Me" feat. Lil' Mo und "Get Away" zwei anscheinend
Rahmen verdient. Sie können es einfach besser! --Sven Niechziol
As Beatlemania approached its peak, Jamaican music was undergoing a
transition that started with ska, and then morphed into rocksteady,
before assuming its ultimate form as reggae. Inevitably these cultures
collided, with artists such as the Paragons and Marcia Griffiths
establishing a tradition of creating dynamic reggae covers of the
Beatles’ hits that continues to this day. This album extends this
lineage, as some of the best reggae Reggae artists set out on a series
of version excursions that include some of the Fab Four’s best loved
bitter-sweet cuts. Released on 180m gram RED vinyl.
Album first released 1983 and now re-released on 180 Gram vinyl. The
Heptones are a Jamaican rocksteady and reggae vocal trio. They were a
significant force in that played a major role in the gradual transition
between ska and rocksteady into reggae with their three-part harmonies. The Heptones: Barry Llewellyn, Earl Morgan & Dolphin ‘Naggo’ Morris
180 gram yellow vinyl LP
Sax player Prince Lincoln Thompson and his Royal Rasses - Keith Perkins
(aka Cap) and Clinton Hall (aka Johnny Kool) - joined forces for this
one in 1979. It's a definitive roots and reggae album with perfectly
horizontal sound and deep cut grooves into which you can sink over and
over again. The lyrics touch on standard reggae fair - love, jah, pain -
and are effortlessly smooth and seductive over the organic, jumbled
rhythms, The reissue has extensive sleeve notes and comes on yellow
vinyl with engineering and mixing at Harry J. Studio.

Red Vinyl Edition! Limited to 60 copies! The
work of Malcolm R & Waseem started with “Peace, Love, Unity and
having Fun”, the Hip-Hop motto according to Krs-One. Malcolm R, involved
in the social processes of his country of origin (Chile), moved to
Munich Germany to pursue better education. By participating in Munich’s
Rap scene he got to know Waseem and DasDing (DSDNG), a collective of
Mc’s, Dj’s, B-Boys/Girls. Waseem, also an activist, invited Malcolm R to
join the collective marking the starting point of their first projects
together. From that moment on their common work flourished with the
necessary spirit and resources to produce their first professional work
in the form of “The Motherland EP”, which refers to the search for
justice and to the roots of these two Afro-Latinamerican MC’s. Malcolm R
& Waseem also feature some local and international
musicians/activists, giving this project a wider spectrum to the
perspective of people looking for a better future - in their motherland
or as immigrants.

Also
Seiten abzugewinnen.
Producer schaffen.
A bag full of rare rhythm & blues, mod-jazz, soul, and mid 70s funk.
Side A starts with rhythm & blues and jazz from the 1960s. The first three tracks were pulled from hopelessly obscure 7" singles. Macy & Company are responsible for the first 'aha' moment. Their version of 'Sixteen Tons' would have certainly astounded even Tennessee Ernie Ford. A truly fantastic version indeed! 'Snatchin' It Back' completes the first side with a furious big band jazz cut.
Side B is all about mod-jazz. 'Undun' is just like 'Big Boy' a sure-shot for any dancefloor. Rare Groove DJs will have a lot of fun spinning these tunes in a club. Admittedly, the next one is a strange cut. 'See How You Are' was recorded on a whim when they two composers were spontaneously pulled into a studio. High time for 'aha' effect #2. Many bands have tried their hands on a cover version of the Lee Morgan jazz classic, one of them being Mr. Palumbo. Listen closely to Dianne Elliott's contribution as it is a highlight for sure despite the fact von Frau Elliott.
Side C begins with 'aha' effect #3 and a fantastic cover version of Gerald Wilson's 'Viva Tirado'. 'Blue Jamaica', is the second track on Movements 11 were a vibraphone is the lead instrument. 'Bawana Jinde' is a wild, wailing blast of percussive instrumental explosion while 'The Creeper' is the perfect choice to finish this side.
Side D is reserved for proper 1970s funk. The flip side of Reunion's sole 45rpm single was included on a previous Tramp compilation album. 'A Brighter Day' has not been compiled yet. 'Real Life', 'Syrene' and 'Breezy' are all prime examples how mid 70s funk has to sound . A dream for B-Boys and B-Girls.
Those of you who have been enjoying the detective work of the people behind the label over the past 18 years know that the Movements series can be easily considered as the flagship compilation series on Tramp. So, after having listened to the entire selection of this brand new volume we sincerely hope that we will have achieved our aim to surprise, delight, and enlighten you once again!

R (Aka El Indio Jiux) is a MC hailing from Iquique Chile. Inspired by
Oldschool HipHop and Jazz, he started playing the sax and rapping with a
very early age and released his first mixtape "Técnicas de
supervivencia" in 2014, recorded by Patricio Cabezas member of the group
"Cerro" and in 2017 the mixtape "InI speech" recorded by Leinad
Producciones. In 2021 he released “The Motherland EP” alongside Waseem a
political activist and rapper from Munich, Germany. His raps deal with
the social problems of present-day Chile as well as injustice,
inequality and racism undeveloped countries are facing worldwide. His
goal is to mobilize people and make these problems visible to those who
can’t see this, or just ignore them on a regular basis. Now in
2022 he releases his first full length album “Drapetomania” via German
label Pigeon Records. For the album he has been working with the Chilean
producers Agresonido from the Reclaf Crew, Oscar Guerrero from the
group Bajo linaje and Crenshett from his hometown of Iquique and the
Munich producers L One from the ATP Crew, Tony Crisp and DJ Rude Teen
from ArOzA Crew. The album title derives its name from
Drapetomania, a supposed mental illness that was hypothesized as the
cause of enslaved Africans fleeing captivity. Slave life was so
pleasant, the official view was, that only the mentally ill would want
to run away. The title shell implicate that the people of Chile are not
free yet and need to stand up for they rights. They live under a flag
that does not represent the majority of the country but discriminates
them on economical and racial basis. His music is characterized by
straight forward lyrics, very frontal messages with heavy pan-african
political content and hard beats.
SOIA's happy place is "Where Magnolia Grows". This is where her paradise
lies, where she can bloom and blossom. Adorned with playful melodies,
the soundtrack fuses HipHop, R&B, NuSoul and Jazz over saturated and
ample beats. The downright lyrics offer deep insights into SOIA’s soul.
Together with her producer Mez she revives her musical roots of the
nineties. The songs range between sensual soul and expressive
contemporary R&B, neatly packed in a shell of electronic synths and
keys. Throughout the nine tracks the beats make your head nod while
SOIA’s voice makes you close your eyes in delight. The first
track, a boom bap tune called RUN WITH WOLVES, gently introduces you to
the album. In her paradise world she runs from nothing and determines
her own pace. SOIA's high-pitched vocals are a deliberate alienation, a
stylistic break from her two predecessor albums, which she also uses in
HOE FOR LOVE and LOOMING STORM.VACANT PARADISE employs deep 808
kick drums and rolling hi-hats. In PAY FOR PIZZA, SOIA not only shows
her love for HipHop, but also urges everyone to pay for their bills them
damn selves.Released on Beat Art Department, a new sub-label of
the well-renowned Munich-based record label Compost Records, WHERE
MAGNOLIA GROWS is SOIA's third solo album. Her two previous albums MOOD
SWINGS and H.I.O.P. were published by the Philadelphia-based label
Record Breakin' Music. Her pre-productions have been nominated
for the Austrian music award Amadeus twice and enjoy a loyal
international fan base. She has appeared live at festivals such as SXSW,
Sonic Visions, Electric Spring, Waves Vienna or Popfest Vienna, as well
as at numerous club gigs from Cape Town to Vienna. Thanks to NASOM
programme (The New Austrian Sound of Music) she is currently on tour
with her band of four.
