Don Letts brachte Mitte der 1970er als erster Resident-DJ des Londoner Punk-Clubs Roxy jungen Punk/New Wave-Musikern wie Sex Pistols, The Clash und Chrissie Hynde den Reggae nahe, drehte unzählige Videos und Filmdokus (u.a. die Grammy-prämierte The Clash-Doku 'Westway To The World'), war neben Mick Jones Mitglied bei Big Audio Dynamite und betreut bis heute eine wöchentliche Radioshow auf BBC 6 Music. Mit "Version Excursion" gräbt er tief in die Plattenkiste und präsentiert einen Sampler mit Dub-Reggae-Coverversionen, die stets ein integraler Bestandteil des Genres waren. Ihr Ursprung überwindet Zeit, Raum und Genre und reicht von The Beach Boys und The Beatles, Nina Simone und Marvin Gaye, The Bee Gees und Kool & The Gang, bis zu The Clash und Joy Division. 13 von insgesamt 21 Versionen sind exklusiv, darunter von John Holt, Matumbi, Cornell Campbell, 15 16 17, Khruangbin, Ghetto Priest und natürlich Don Letts aka The Rebel Dread's Neubearbeitung des B.A.D.
